1984 anti-Sikh riot victims- Old, tired and waiting, Delhi
Thakur's mother Kamlesh Kaur fed herself and her three children on Gurudwara langar until she got some compensation from the government. She met Rajiv Gandhi in 1987 and got a peon's job in the Indian Air Force. However today she feels doubly victimised by the behavior of her bosses who she says treat her with disrespect and make her do all menial work at her age. She is diabetic, has a paralyzed right arm and a son who is handicapped after an accident.
