I had been wondering why would anyone need to get oneself shot while pregnant? Perhaps it was not easy for a bachelor to understand the importance of pregnancy in ones life. I read a lot about it and discovered that pregnancy shoot is not only the indulgence of the rich, famous women like Demi Moore or Konkana Sen Sharma. Your average Indian too wants to cherish the most important period of their lives through photographs.
In the west pregnancy or maternity photography is a well entrenched photography genre. There a pregnancy shoot is almost as important as getting ones wedding shot. In India the idea is relatively new but going by the queries one gets I am sure it will be streamlined pretty soon. The lady in the photographs was nine-month pregnant and had a huge bump. However, remarkably she was slim otherwise. Apart from the bump, most women gain enormous amount of weight all over their body during their pregnancy. These are the women I had seen until now. So when I met this `slim 9-month pregnant lady' I was surprised. She also surprised me with her energy and posing abilities. She was a natural poser and though only a week away from delivery she gave no signs of exhaustion. The budget for this shoot was very modest and took place at home in the small hours of one afternoon.
